I’ve tried like 28 different distros of Linux/Unix, including DesktopBSD and PC-BSD. But for the life of me I can’t get a graphical environment up and running with FreeBSD (I downloaded the DVD iso and install it using a VirtualBox virtual machine that has plenty of installation space)
Any quick install steps to help out?

i have a vmware workstation 6.0. im trying to install windows XP but it always starts a network boot. the message in the bios says:
PXE-MOF: Existing Intel PXE ROM
Operating system not found
despite the installation CD inserted in the CDROM driver.
how can i get vmware to start from CD boot?
As per title. Or more generally, can I damage my actual Windows Xp in any way by messing with the one installed in VMware Workstation?
