VM Times

I recently purchased a new computer that came preloaded with Windows Vista. I have a 298GB hardrive and only have 12 GB remaining (I have only installed one game so far)
Anyway there are these files called “Filerserver-VMWARE.vmdk” and “Windows-2003-SERVER-Main.vhd” that take up 130GB each.
What exactly are these?

So they can easily switch between operating systems without restarting.
Also if an OS crashes in VMware only VMware crashes so it is quicker to get back to where you were.
