I have a problem when I install Linux Ubuntu . The installation starts and when it is at 65% of installation it’s interrupt and appear a message that is:
Failed to copy files ; faulty CD/DVD or hard disk??
[Errno 5] input output error
This particular error is often due a faulty CD/DVD or disk driver , or a faulty hard disk. It may help to clean the CD/DVD , to burn the CD/DVD at lower speed , to clean the CD/DVD drive lens(cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers , to check whether the hard disk is old and need of replacement , or to move the system to aa cooler environment.

It’s telling you the problem, the CD is bad. I don’t know about VMware, but with VirtualBox, you can use the iso file instead of the disk if you want to. http://www.virtualbox.org/
I recommend you a free software which can help you convert Copy DVD to your local hard drive
It is “Next Video Converter”. It is easy to use, you only need one click to copy whole DVD to hard drive.

Your CD is bad. This could have happened when you burnt off your LiveCD, or it could be scratched, or warpped. Just burn off a new CD and you should be fine. You can also set up a virtual CD drive in VMWare and “insert” the Ubuntu iso file into that virtual drive. I tend to use this method as I don’t waste a blank CD then.
Make sure you computer is set to boot from cd then v=boot with the disk inserted then select the second last option and it will check the CD for what is calls defects if they are found wait for tomorrow { 29 October and get the 9.10 version} The problem you have IS due to a defected disk.
