How To Dual-boot My Pc?

I basically want to try out the windows 7 beta on a different HD partition but had a few questions:
1. Can i create a new partition without formatting my main partition?
2. HOW do i create a new partition without downloading software like VMware or Partition magic..
3. can i create a partition after booting from my XP disk, and selecting a partition to create it on like I’m able to on vista?
THANKS!

    Yes, you can!
    1. No you don’t. You just need some disk space, at least 40gb for the new partition.
    2. You will need to download software, but this particular one is free http://download.cnet.com/Easeus-Partitio…
    3. yes, again. Make a name for the new partition after you are done partitioning. Name it like “windows 7″ Once done, put in the dvd of windows 7 you should have burned earlier, put it in before you turn off. It should ask you which disk you want W7 to boot from, and pick the new partition.
    Good Luck

You will need to have free space on your drive. If you do not have free space you will need to shrink the current volume.
Once you have freed up some space (at least 15 gigs required to install 7)
Then you can boot from your windows 7 dvd and create a new partition in the free space and install 7. The boot cd will create the dual boot for you.
