Can I Clone My Macbook Hdd To My New Imac?

I know I can use Carbon Copy Clone to achieve this (cloning my Macbook drive onto my new iMac HDD) but I’m not sure if it would produce any adverse effects.
Both drive have Leopard right now but I didn’t know if my copies of VMWare Fusion (and thus, Windows XP) would work once cloned on a new drive.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I used SuperDuper! (free program) and I partitioned a hard drive and moved it there so I can not only use it but also boot from it.http://lifehacker.com/software/step-by-s…
There’s the guide I followed and if you just wanted to copy and not boot or move it to an external than you can skip a few steps but I would definitely recommend SuperDuper!

I do not use a mac but I am sure there is software out there to do this….you might want to google it and see what you can find….I like acronis but it cost money..but it will be the easiest program you ever used to clone…and you can pick exactly what you want to clone…if it is a clone…like carbon clone will make…it will be an exact clone…it is not like making an image..which is to make it smaller….in most cases a clone will be alittle larger than the original…you should have everything (working) if you are cloning…….best of luck
