Can Anyone Know How To Get Installation File In Ubuntu Linux?

I had installed vmware and after it is causing some problem I removed it. but if I try to install another vmware from another source, I can’t install it. I get a message saying that a previous install has been detected. I would like to remove it completely even the installation file so that I can be able to install another kind of vmware-player.

apt-get remove –purge That will get rid of all the files associated with the package…

is it Ubuntu you want to remove? im pretty sure in the menu after the CD boot theres an install/uninstall bit, if thats what you tried, you could always try re-installing it then removing, or a system restore to just before installing
