Portable Hdd 250gb Freecom, Installing Xp So It Will Run From Vmware On Any Computer!?

Anyone got anything that would help me on this im pretty knowledgable with computers but this ones baffled me, it recognises my drives and cd rom drives, using Vmware like it should but it wont allow me to use the Xp disc which is in the drive to install onto the HDD itself, and i already know that my computer supports USB Boot but Xp wont load from that and thats now how i want it at all!
Anything that you can tell me would be greatly appreciated!

There’s at least a few things to check. Make sure the XP VM has the CD-ROM drive set to Connected, and that it’s looking to load from the Host drive, not an ISO (unless you’re using an image to load XP). You may want to check the boot priority in the VM’s BIOS. Worst case, if you simply cannot get the CD to boot, you could also try copying the CD to an image (ISO) file with burning software (freebie – CDBurnerXP if you don’t already have one) and mount/boot off of the image.
Edit: If you have multiple drives on the host, try choosing the actual drive letter in VMware’s settings rather than Auto Detect, as I’ve had VMware ignore my drive containing the boot disk before.
