Why Won’t Visual Effects For Ubuntu Work In Vmware?

Why won’t visual effects for Ubuntu work in VMWare? Is it because it is a virtual machine? If so, is there any way I could hack it into thinking it’s not on a virtual machine? (I’m using a Mac, btw)

    yes, because you’re emulating… emulating means you’re not really using your graphics card.. just a part of it and therefore not correct drivers or integration with visual effects..sorry, no way

    vmware doesnt support direct 3d accleration (from the video card)
    i think paralells does support this, but that costs money, why not just install ubuntu next to osx?
