Advantages Of Using Vmware Fusion Over Bootcamp?

I realize VMware Fusion allows Mac users to integrate Window applications into the Mac interface ,but I’m having trouble thinking about what programs I would use on windows! I use bootcamp to play games on but as for other applications–I would like to know what other people use VMware Fusion for?

  1. Bootcamp just lets you dual-boot into Windows and OS X like any other bootloader would do. VMWare is an actual app that runs in OS X that lets you virtually install and run Windows inside OS X as an app, but Windows can still get limited access to the hardware via some very complex code.
I use VMWare so I don’t have to reboot my machine to launch Windows. I just open VMWare and run Vista with a click. I switch back and forth from OS X apps to Vista with a click so they’re literally running side by side. I don’t play games so I don’t need the 3D video card support that comes with a bootcamp install, but I do run Visual Studio for development, I test my work in IE 7, and if there’s a Windows app my friends ask about I can install it real quick to give them my input.
The nice thing about VMWare is if Vista ever craps out for any reason I can just delete the virtual machine and start a new with no hassle. Another amazing feature that VMWare started offering is the ability to actually boot from a Bootcamp install of Windows while booted into OS X.
It’s the best money I’ve ever spent on such a powerful app, so I hope this little bit of input helps. Best of luck.
